Eight lessons, 90 minutes each. Begin with two interface lessons and short exercises, then explore Art toy design direction and modelling the head, body and limbs. Develop your own Art toy or Art piece, followed by lighting, colouring, preparing files for 3D printing and post-processing printed pieces.
Turn a character, object or sketch into a form that can be viewed from every angle, and understand how front, side and overall silhouettes work together.
Check a model through its large forms, proportion and turning planes, learning to break a complex subject into adjustable three-dimensional relationships.
Compare light direction, value and viewing angle so the model’s focus, silhouette and visual mood communicate more clearly.
Become familiar with the Nomad Sculpt interface and view controls; practise rotating, zooming and moving the view for steady observation.
Begin with simple forms such as spheres and blocks, using additive, subtractive, push-pull and smoothing actions to establish the main mass and proportion.
Compare front, side and rotated views repeatedly to locate height, width, depth and part placement, making form relationships more coherent.
After the main form is stable, work on recesses, raised areas, edges and local turns, judging which details support the subject without scattering focus.
Use Art toy design principles and direction to develop your own character or Art piece, organising the relationships between the head, body and limbs.
Explore lighting and colouring in Nomad, preparing files for 3D printing, and methods for post-processing and painting printed pieces.
First study the reference image or sketch for its main shape, viewpoint and focus, then choose one form or structural question for the lesson.
Follow a step-by-step demonstration of the interface, form-making or lighting. Use short exercises to learn the controls before rushing into a whole model.
Apply the methods to your own subject, using rotation checks, proportional comparison and local revisions to progressively organise the model’s structure.
Compare the image and layer arrangement before and after revision, record the next practice direction, and save the work appropriately to retain the process.
The following is the brand-confirmed sequence of eight lessons, 90 minutes each. Individual exercises and revisions are arranged according to the project’s needs.
| Stage | Practice | What to review |
|---|---|---|
| Lesson 1 / Interface introduction I | The interface introduction is split across two lessons. Begin with the first set of controls and short exercises to become familiar with the tools. | Review view controls, tool selection and basic saving. |
| Lesson 2 / Interface introduction II | Continue with the second part of the interface and tools, applying the controls through short exercises. | Compare the controls from both lessons. Can you choose suitable tools for the exercise? |
| Lesson 3 / Art toy design and head | Explore Art toy design principles and design direction, followed by head-modelling practice. | Review the head silhouette, proportions and character design direction. |
| Lesson 4 / Body, hands and feet | Practise modelling the body, hands and feet and organise relationships between the parts. | Compare proportion, pose and connections between parts from different angles. |
| Lesson 5 / Your own Art toy or Art piece | Design and model your own Art toy or Art piece, developing a personal concept. | Is the design focus clear? Does the model support your own concept? |
| Lesson 6 / Continue the modelling project | Continue developing the model, reviewing structure and refining details. | Review the whole before addressing details and recording revisions. |
| Lesson 7 / Lighting, colouring and print files | Complete the modelling stage and learn lighting and colouring methods in Nomad, plus how to prepare files for 3D printing. | Compare lighting and colour effects, and check files against the actual printing requirements. |
| Lesson 8 / Post-processing and painting prints | Learn methods for post-processing and painting 3D-printed pieces. | Confirm the methods according to the material, product instructions and practical arrangements. |
Software is not included in the fee. Learners must prepare their own software and iPad. Confirm suitable versions, compatibility and any other tools before booking.
Name and group layers clearly during modelling so parts can be revised, versions compared and working steps revisited more easily.
When using a photo or sketch as reference, clarify its source and purpose. Focus on observation and transformation rather than directly copying another person’s work.
The course covers preparing print files and introducing post-processing methods. Confirm whether printing services, printed pieces and materials are arranged, and any related fees, in advance.
Eight lessons, 90 minutes each, including review and saving files; the time allocation may be adjusted to the project’s needs. Software is excluded; bring your own software and iPad. Confirm printing services, physical prints, post-processing materials and related costs before booking; these are not assumed to be included.
